Cloud is the hero of the game, and one of the most strangest. He was once a soldier for Shinra, but he quit for unknown reasons. He was once childhood friends with Tifa, the heroine of the story, who works for AVALANCHE, which is a resistence group for what Shinra is doing. Since he was hired for a job with AVALANCHE, he meets Tifa, and he also meets his destiny of saving the planet....

Tifa is the heroine of this story, and a part of the group AVALANCHE, which ultimately leads her back to Cloud. Tifa is a caring, and loving character, but despite this, if she's mad, she can fully express that through her fists. However, she might be holding the key to Cloud's secret past, that he doesn't even know about....

Bio: Barret is the leader of AVALANCHE, so he obviously doesn't like them too, too much. Barret might appear like a bully at first, however, he has a caring heart which he usually only seems to share with his daughter Marleen, who was one of the only survivors of the fire caused by Shinra, which killed her mom, and Barret's wife.

Bio: Aeris, with her mysterious powers, is always on the lookout for the Turks, which are chasing her for unkown reasons. Aeris' knowledge of the Planet is only surpassed by her magical powers, and the mystery of her origin. Loving and caring, Aeris is very protective of her friends, and of herself. Selling flowers on the streets of Midgar is nothing compared to what destiny has planned for her life....

Bio: This mysterious animal has fire on the tip of its tail, along with the ability to talk. Taken for experiments by Shinra, this animal wants to get rid of them, and therefore ends up joining Cloud and his friends. Red XIII has extraordinary knowledge about almost everything, and the source of the knowledge is hardly known. Red XIII is vicious, but like most of the other characters, will protect his friends because of his true caring side.

Bio: Cid is the maker of the Highwind, one of the best airships in the world. Cid is very protective of his work, and therefoe very vicious, and mean. Because of his obsessions with airships, he has a dream of flying into outerspace, but that was ruined by, his now maid, Sheila. Since Cid is protective of things he cares about, he is also very protective of his friends.

Bio: Cait Sith is one of the most of the coolest characters of all time. Cait Sith rides around on his stuffed moogle he magically brought to life. Therefore, he fits right in with the theme of chocobo's and moogles at the Gold Saucer. Cait Sith may seem like a child play toy at first, but he holds a secret which far surpasses that of child's....

Despite his hate for Shinra, he was once a Turk, and knows what to expect from the evil company, and he uses that as a tactial advantage. Despite his accident with Shinra, which apparently turned him into a monster, he has a frightening power locked within him....
